Topics
Shasta customizes every talk and workshop based on the makeup of
the audience, the purpose of the event, and the length of time allotted. Whether
she’s speaking to a women’s group about their personal circle of girlfriends, to
a spiritual community about how belonging has to include acceptance, forgiveness,
and vulnerability, or to a co-ed business convention about how to build personal
support systems and healthy teams, Shasta crafts her message to be appropriate and
meaningful for each audience.
Her keynote speeches and workshops include the following subjects:
• How friendship can save the world
• The 5 Circles of Connectedness as an inventory of our current friends
• Frientimacy (friendship intimacy) as a goal, a fear, and a need
• The 5 stages of a relationship and how to move from curiosity to frientimacy
• The power of vulnerability (and what healthy and appropriate sharing looks like)
• A lesson for all relationships—forgiveness
• Our relationship to ourselves: How we love ourselves determines how we will love
others; how we love others affects how we love ourselves.
• Speed-friending—interactive connecting in groups
• Responding to the five friendship threats: blame, neglect, judgment, jealousy,
and non-reciprocation
• Asking for what we need (and other conflict responses)
• Relationships as the path to the happiness and health
• Loneliness kills. And you can be lonely even when you know everyone.
• Networking: the power of our contacts
• How to turn friendly people you meet into friends that matter.

Shasta used to be a preacher, which means that every weekend she was on a stage
teaching and motivating. She still brings her spirited and soulful voice to every
presentation, even though now you’re just as likely to find her speaking at corporations,
conferences, association meetings, and anyplace else where people are seeking healthier
and more meaningful relationships.

Shasta was one of our most popular and loved speakers at the 25th Annual Central
California Women's Conference. Her audience raved about her, saying things like:
- Excellent! Excellent!
- Shasta killed it! Great, unique topic, very needed!
- She was a breath of fresh air, Wonderful, uplifting, fantastic speaker, we need
her back!
We couldn't have been more pleased with both Shasta and her session.

Shasta is a dynamo in stilettos. Speaking without
notes or PowerPoint, Shasta Nelson kept the rapt attention
of a roomful of seasoned professional coaches who are used to quality programming.
She closed her hour-long keynote with an expertly improvised "speed-friending" exercise
that left eighty coaches still hanging around after twenty minutes, chatting enthusiastically
with "new" friends. The hub-bub was electric. Her ability to connect people with
each other in a meaningful way is unparalleled. She brings insight, clarity and
a deft touch to the topic of relationships in general but especially to women's
friendships. She rocks a keynote and I would not hesitate
to invite her again.

In a setting where it was very difficult to get our raucous group quiet,
Shasta captivated the room and was able to shift her program to fit perfectly
with the audience. She was fun, organized, inspiring and energetic. My organization
does events every week and Shasta's was hands down one of
the very best.

Shasta is one of the most engaging, powerful and inspiring
speakers I've ever seen. The talk she gave was truly one of the highlights
of the year. Shasta is a compelling storyteller…
She has created extremely powerful tools to help women evaluate the state of their
friendships so they can clearly see what they need to do to have fulfilling friendships
in their lives. I highly recommend Shasta as a
speaker to any organization. She is truly a gem with a unique and necessary offering
in today's world.

Shasta Nelson articulates and deconstructs Friendship so powerfully
- inspiring women to reclaim the soul of friendship and giving us the tools and
language to be able to do so with depth and connection. There isn’t a more important
time in our history when women need to relearn how to be true friends to each other
— exemplifying the power of positivity, support and nurturing in our lives."

Shasta far exceeded the expectations of our audience full
of mothers, leading us through real-life scenarios and captivating research
and ending with take-away’s that left us not only feeling connected as a group,
but also empowered to live deeply in our other relationships. Shasta has an amazing
talent of allowing for a dynamic experience where thoughts and questions are welcomed,
where people feel “real” with each other. Shasta’s name is
still mentioned in conversation as our group’s favorite guest speaker,
and the lessons she taught us will remain as some of our most valuable strategies
in life.
